Midwest buyers had eye on early season storm

Most of the nation’s domestic steelmaking capacity avoided the worst of a blizzard that swept across the Midwest following the Thanksgiving weekend. Downtown Chicago and the mills on the Indiana Lakefront experienced about 2 inches of light snow, as did downtown Milwaukee and points north. But Rockford was buried in nearly 14 inches of snow, and the mills at Sterling in northwestern Illinois and eastern Iowa were forced to suspend scrap deliveries into the early part of last week.
